Keep in mind that when Herodotus visited Egypt and asked how the Great Pyramid had been built, it was already over two thousand years old.
The answers he received should therefore be considered with great skepticism. Among other problems, they were quite possibly given to him by people whose ancestors had only been in Egypt for a few centuries.
